We absolutely loved our stay at La Bastide. The appartment was nice and clean, simply decorated (not all that tat that you often get when you stay somewhere) and safe for our very curious 15-month old. We thought that La Bastide is a stunning building with gorgeous well-kept gardens. There were plenty of toys for our little one to play with and we loved to be able to go out on the bike with her on the back too. The swimming pool is a good size and is kept very clean. It was also really useful for us to have the little bar by the swimming pool as our daughter would always have a fair amount of shade to play in.  The local area is stunning and there are plenty of things to do; you just wouldn't get bored.
The new caretakers Jenny and Gerry are very kind and extremely thoughtful.  Thank you very much to both of them for making our time at La Bastide so very special! They're absolutely brilliant! . They show that they genuinely care that you have a good time and are incredibly thoughtful but at the same time respect your privacy. For example, they had noticed that our daughter was a bit scared of being in the pool, even with the inflatable ring on, so the next day they had bought a little blow-up boat for her so that she could be in the pool anyway. We thought this was so kind! we felt very comfortable using their babysitting services and we had a lovely well-deserved night out.
They also served us an incredible breakfast on our first morning there and we felt so spoiled. Basically, if you had any questions you could just ask but they also actively made sure to look after you and kept the place clean and tidy. The Bastide is a fantastic place in a beautiful location. We would definitely consider coming back.

We've just returned from our week at La Bastide des Lavandieres where we had a lovely relaxing time. We would like to thank you for the bottle of champagne which Jenny & Gerry gave us on our Silver Wedding Anniversary from you all.  It was a lovely gesture and we enjoyed it very much.  We must say that you have a couple of gems in Jenny & Gerry.  They made us feel so welcome - it was as if we'd gone to stay at a friend's house, the atmosphere was so relaxed yet organised.  We had a couple of small issues in Apartment 6 which they dealt with while we were out for the day and everything was as we'd requested. We will definitely recommend La Bastide to our friends and wish you good luck with bookings in the current economic climate.
With our thanks and best wishes .

The week we spent at La Bastide des Lavandieres was one of the best of our 6 week trip through France.  We wished we could have spent longer.  The apartment was very modern and had everything you needed.  The pool was an added bonus that we enjoyed every day.  The pool house was great and we enjoyed many a beverage there with other guests and the caretakers.  I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this accommodation . It was everything we could have hoped for . I only wish we didn't live so far away in Australia so we could come back sooner.
The caretakers, Jenny and Gerry were fantastic.  They greeted us on arrival and were so friendly and helpful.  The kids loved their little dog Ted and played with him heaps.  We enjoyed spending time with Gerry and Jenny and had drinks by the pool, dinner at a lovely restaurant nearby and also wine tasting at the owner's vineyards.  Gerry also accompanied us to the doctors when my little boy got sick and translated for us.  He then helped with the medicine dosage too.  This went above and beyond and demonstrates what caring people they are.  They are brilliant! Our kids had a ball in the pool and we enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere.  I wish we could come back sooner!

Wow.... what a fantastic time we had - the Infamous Five in Apartment 5 !
5 women of varied ages on a much needed girly break.  We spent 9 days in La Bastide and we didn’t want to leave! Surrounded with beautiful scenery & with the best hosts - a fantastic couple who looked after us from beginning to end of our stay.
We were made so welcome and at home from the minute we pulled up in the car when we were greeted like we had just arrived home.... beautiful surroundings, stunning scenery, very comfortable accommodation!
Friendly evenings spent laughing and chatting and the odd bottle of wine shared with other guests who made fantastic company and added to our special holiday memories.
Days spent by the pool chilling mixed in with visits to Monaco, Nice, Cannes... followed by Haribo... Carcassonne... Flamingos... Uzes.... and the local bar for a gorgeous Pizza, Frogs Legs and Chips all fitted in too -  oh and Grape crushing -  yes Grapes from the local vineyard crushed with our feet!! I for one will be back to visit La Bastide and our new friends.  Thank you for such a memorable first visit to France..

This was our second stay ( we were here last August also ) We really liked our apartment,it was spacious and well laid out, and suited us well with 3 young children. It was great to have the highchair, cot and plastic bowls and bottle. I would suggest advertising the younger baby equipment (steriliser, dummies, etc) before people come so that they know they don't need to bring these bits. It is quite a good selling point!

We had a fantastic two weeks at La Bastide, one of our best family holidays. The children loved the pool and play areas and made loads of friends, meaning we had a relaxed adult time! There is so much to do in the surrounding areas, we loved the river swimming, again perfect for the kids. We hope to return when they are a little older to try out the kayaking and mountain biking!

Michelle Thmpson & family from Henley-on-Thames , England ( guests in Apartment. 1 - August 2011 )

The apartment was very spacious, clean and accessible.  The house is set in a beautiful part of the countryside surrounded by vines and sunflowers and near to most attractions. The caretakers at La Bastide were very hospitable and friendly and made us welcome from the moment we arrived to the minute we left.  Nothing was too much trouble. In all we had a relaxing time and will be back. We would recommend La Bastide des Lavandiéres to family and friends in fact we already have.

Ian, Judith and Leanne Winship, from Reading, Berkshire, England ( guests in Apartment 2 - August 2011 )

Apartment - clean, spacious, lovely bedding, comfy beds, well stocked kitchen. In general - good location for exploring, true rustic, rural France, sunshine.  Comment from children - "we loved the pool" . Highly recommended for a superb, family, relaxing holiday.  Our hosts were very helpful and will go out of their way to ensure you have a perfect stay. Perfect location. Love to go back.

Kevin Tree & Family from Maidstone , Kent , England ( guests in Apartment 5 - July 2011 )

Our apartment was a great size and in great condition. Having two small children is was great to have the play area right outside the door. The play area was well set out and secure so we could relax when the children were outside playing. Pool was also great and was always kept clean and tidy. Location of the apartments is great in that there is plenty to see and do in the neighbourhood but you do need transport. So overall a great location and apartments. Quiet, relaxing and great for families with children.

Roger Murray & Family from Brussels , Belgium ( guests in Apartment 2 - July 2011 )

The location is close to many nice places to be seen, the apartment and all equipment available plus the swimming-pool, of course makes this a very nice location with very nice caretakers! Very quick to act whenever you ask for something!

Olivier Epinette & Family from Evry , France ( guests in Apartment 5 - August 2011 )

Great location, very good combination of playground, swimming pool and terrace . Also the apartment is close to village playground (our friends had apartment 2). Lot's of space very comfortable. Terrace is big and private. The swimming pool was cleaned every day & the area around it was also very clean, great!  Great formula for a holiday with small children. There is a playground, toys, swimming pool... what else do kids need ???.  Many beautiful places to visit in the area, good location for daytrips. Very quiet, great place to relax and enjoy good wine.

Katalin Baranyi & Family from Amsterdam , Netherlands ( guests in Apartment 1 - July 2011 )

The apartment was clean and bright and even better (if possible) than the website pictures. Everything that you need for a holiday was there. Views from the balcony were stunning . Lovely accommodation and pool. Lots of pretty villages close by. There is something for everyone in the area but also fantastic for just relaxing . The caretakers looked after the bastide diligently from early morning till late and were always available to put right any little problems or to give information about the surrounding area. Very friendly and efficient. It was brilliant to have such good onsite support.

Jan & Brian Martin from Edinburgh , Scotland ( guests in Apartment 1 - July 2011 )

We had a fantastic holiday in La Bastide. What you see on the website is what you get. Apartment 3 was excellent for 2 couples. Balcony was a great size. Nice and shady in the morning and again later in the evening. Views from balcony were lovely. (Still don't know what that big building on the top of the hill was.) Despite the weather being very hot the apartment was ok & never got too hot because of the thick walls (although the fan helped).
La Bastide itself is a beautiful building. The pool was fine and a reasonable size for the apartments. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Lots of places to see roundabout but a car is essential. The caretakers are extremely helpful and friendly. From the minute we arrived they gave us a warm, friendly welcome. They also provided info before arrival and offered to get shopping, prepare a meal etc. They couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much bother. Any little problems we had they did their best to sort or provided an alternative solution. We would be more than happy to holiday here again. 10/10 for our holiday.

Gordon & Anne Hamilton from Edinburgh , Scotland ( guests in Apartment 3 - July 2011 )

Our extended family booked 4 of the apartments in June 2011 from 3 - 10 days & had a wonderful time. All apartments are well appointed & the pool area a lovely place to relax. The roof top terrace in Apartment 6 & the large terrace in apartment 3 were great spaces for all our family & friends to gather for brunch or a drink in the cool of the evening. Hosts welcome and care was much appreciated!

Michelle Pugsley & Nick Thomas from Teddington , England ( guests in Apartment 6 - June 2011 )

Great location - quiet, rural setting, within easy reach of many interesting historical towns/sites. Good climate. Apartment was spacious, well equipped and the pool was excellent for children (lots of inflatibles) and for relaxing. Provision of towels to rent at the pool was a really helpful touch. The large balcony in the apartment and the hammock were great.  The pool area and all areas around the entire  complex were kept clean and very tidy. Young children were well catered for (sand, paddling pool, play area).

Aileen Gardner & family from Glasgow , Scotland ( guests in Apartment 3 - June 2011 )

Overall we were delighted with 'La Bastide'. We had absolutely everything we needed in our accommodation - We were very impressed with all the baby equipment (and all brand new!), even down to spare dummies. Our little boy loved all the toys which were provided outside. The caretakers were very friendly and welcoming. If there was anything we needed then they were happy to help.  We were happy to take advantage of the free wi-fi . It was really good that we could get information on the region and what was on nearby each day . Overall we had a lovely holiday

Phillipa & Richard Biggs from Altrincham , England ( guests in Apartment 2 - June 2011 )

A beautiful old building, well restored, loved the ceiling in my apartment. Rooms were well furnished and beds were very comfortable. Outside space was lovely - so nice to sit and have breakfast outside. Pool was a good size and it's a really good idea to have the snack bar. Inflatables in pool are great for children, mine would have loved that when they were young. A great place to stay, lovely accommodation and a sweet little village . The Bastide caretakers were very friendly and obliging. Standard of cleanliness was very good.

Diane Thomas from Twickenham , England ( guest in Apartment 1 - June 2011 )

Well firstly thank you for arranging such nice weather!!!! wow what an amazing place you have there in such a lovely setting. We really liked the touch of personal contact especially with arranging some essentials ready for our arrival very good choice of wine as well, our daughter and two children where fitted nicely into our apartment on the Friday night until her apartment was ready on the Saturday so thank you for that.
Beautiful place set in a lovely village, large excellent accommodation,  with wonderful views,  we loved the baloneys and  enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Also we were more than happy with your caretakers for all their friendship and care. They were very conscientious in all their duties, the pool was kept in very good order, the poolbar was great and I appreciate that most of the personal touches were down to them .

Pam & Ray Thomas from Cardiff , Wales ( guests in Apartment 3 - June 2011 )

A lovely old house simply and well renovated with facilities for children such as the playground and fenced off swimming pool that made it a very easy place to relax in with kids. We had everything we needed. It was great having the small bar there for drinks and ice creams and very good value too. There was also plenty to do and see in the area without much of a drive. The caretakers could not have been more helpful. They answered all our queries and provided anything extra we needed.  We were very impressed.
Will be recommending it to friends.

Sophie Hofler & Family from Dublin , Ireland ( guests in Apartment 2 - June 2011 )

Our holiday at your fantastic apartment came to an end last Wednesday. I want to share with you what a brilliant time we had. This is a beautiful part of the world: so clean and unspoiled. La Bastide was a wonderful base from which to explore so many nearby attractions, and we enjoyed visits to Nimes, Montpellier, Avignon, Pont du Gard and Uzes, not to mention many nearby smaller towns. It provided easy opportunities for me to enjoy many of the things that I most enjoy: wine; cycling; bird watching, while the top class facilities provided a superb base for the rest of the family to relax. We have left enough attractions unsampled to justify another visit, so I definitely hope to return next year. I will certainly let friends know about this superb holiday destination, and hopefully drum up some new business for you all. It occurs to me that you might want to do a bit more to push the quality and variety of the local wildlife on offer, as ecotourism becomes ever more popular. I managed to record roughly 65 different species over the holiday.  There seems to be a good variety of butterflies too, but I'm less knowledgeable in this area and didn't pack a guide, on the grounds of weight (just as well, since we had cases of 21.5 and 22 kg on the way home!).  I didn't make it up to the Cevennes for a proper look around, but this would definitely have added some higher altitude species to the list: maybe next year . It is worth noting that there is much of interest within very close range of Canaules: . Fiona and I are veterans of French holidays, having spent many happy visits at her family's converted barn on the Charente / Dordogne border, as well as two holidays close to Perpignan and various shorter stops  in Northern France.
Each of these has much to offer, but I think that the Gard is the most consistently beautiful of all of these destinations.  I found the cities lively and the people friendly and helpful.  It was also comforting to find that, although food prices are generally quite high at present, there was no evidence of targetted exploitation of tourists.  It was great (and probably unique) to find that any hidden extras at La Bastide were benefits rather than costs, e.g. the use of the bikes. I visited three of the local wineries .  The lady at the co-operative at Canaules seemed quite tickled to sell an Englishman a coffret of three mixed bottles, while I was given a  brief tutored tasting by a charming lady at the chic-looking Domaine de L'Orviel just a short distance away from the apartments in Canaules .

Once again: a big thank you from all the family.
À l'année prochaine!

Nigel Troup & Family from Stockport , England ( guests in Apartment 6 - June 2011 )
La Bastide des Lavandieres is the perfect location for a family holiday - beautiful apartments, spacious outdoor facilities with great pool and play area. A Lovely building, tastefully renovated and extremely well appointed apartments. Very adaptable so ideal for a large family holiday like ours - 8 adults, 3 small boys. Lovely outdoor space and wonderful pool area. Excellent play area for the boys and loads of toys etc. Pool bar really well done out by Jenny & Gerry provided a very welcome bit of shade by day and lots of fun in the evening ! A wonderful spot to relax and unwind .
We cannot speak highly enough of Jenny and Gerry. They were always friendly, very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They were informative and always on hand. Gerry took us to the local vineyard - where we understand you have some vines - and his fluent french was invaluable. They were particularly good with our granchildren frequently coming back with more bits and pieces to keep them entertained and Gerry even took time out to teach 4 year old George to play chess! The collection of hats in the pool bar provided plenty of laughs in the evening and we mustn't forget Teddy their dog - a great hit with the Boys .  You provide the perfect location for a great holiday no matter how large or small the group. Thank you for a lovely family holiday. We shall be happy to recommend La Bastide des Lavandieres to anyone.

Philip and Helen Temperley from London , England ( guests in Apartment 3 - June 2012 )
A little late we want to write you thanking you for a fantastic stay in the new apartment - les Ballades . The caretakers Jenny and Gerry were to a great deal a large part of the success of our visit as were your co-owners which we met at their visit and annual party. We are certainly planning to come back next year, health permitting.
Sonja & Sven Bertelsen from Denmark ( guests in Apartment 7 - les Ballades - October 2012 )
Nice spacious apartment with lovely views from the roof top terrace . Apartment was clean and well equipped .
Caretakers Jenny & Gerry were very helpful but not too over powering. They really seemed to care about looking after the property and the guests. Please keep the place as a not too commercial haven. That is why we have been 4 times.

The Rossiter Family from Flintshire , Wales ( guests in Apartment 6 - October 2012 )
We had a really fantastic holiday! It's a very nice apartment, finely kept by two wonderful people - Jenny & Gerry . It is in a perfect enviroment with lots to see. Perfect! . Our journey home went fine, the only downside being, it was going home... ... ...

The Vergaelen Family from Belgium ( guests in Apartment 6 - October 2012 )
I have stayed in Les Ballades twice and will definitely be back. It is a good starting point for walking and running in the surrounding area, and the views from the balcony are lovely. The gite is very well equipped and spotlessly clean, and I was made to feel very welcome during my stays.

Rebecca Orring, Stockholm, Sweden ( guest in Apartment 7 - les Ballades - 2 times during 2011 & 2012 )
The apartment was spacious, clean and well equipped. As the apartment is on ground floor the access is very easy and there are only a few steps to the lovely pool. This gite is suitable for both young and old. While all the apartments where occupied while we were there, we were not disturbed by any noise from other guests. Jenny and Gerry are a great combination and ideally suited for caretaking of this complex. Many times we saw them interacting with children to their delight. Gerry organised an impromptu visit to a neighbouring vineyard which was most enjoyable.
Lars & Jocelyn Fagerstrom from Wellington, New Zealand ( guests in Apartment 1 ) - July 2013
The welcome we received from Jenny and Gerry made the place feel immediately warm and friendly. The apartment was equipped with everything we might need - even bikes! It's an impressive building - especially the curved stone ceilings. It had a lovely homely feel that made us all comfortable and relaxed. The place was spotless, the pool beautiful and all of the open space was great and well looked after.
Beautiful apartments and brilliant hosts who even helped us get a few stranded people to the airport too ! .
I would definitely recommend La Bastide des Lavandieres to anyone!
Elly White from London , England ( guest in Apartment 1 ) - September 2013
Beautifully restored house in a quiet village - just what we had hoped for. Our apartment had a very pleasant view and we enjoyed very much eating on the balcony in the mornings and evenings. The apartment was very comfortable for four people and the kitchen well equipped and clean, like the rest of the apartment. This is the right place for a family or couple who are looking for something special. Wonderful caretakers who make the guests feel very welcome from the first minute on and were very accommodating, friendly and well informed. They gave us (including our dog) the feeling that they enjoyed having us there which put everyone at ease and facilitated the transition into vacation life. The pictures are not deceiving: it is indeed as fantastic as it looks!
Bruce & Carmen Ranney from Wuppertal , Germany ( guests in Apartment 3 ) - July 2013
The Apartment was just the right size for us and our two boys - very spacious and comfortable. Having a selection of toys in the apartment was fantastic and having the booster seats was really handy. We loved being able to throw open the doors and let them wander in and out knowing they couldn't get to the pool without us. Jenny and Gerry were lovely - very informative about things to do and places to see locally. Really friendly without being intrusive and always there when you needed them. We have recommended La Bastide to friends and hope we can return one day.
Mia Babb & Family from Buckinghamshire , England ( guests in Apartment 2 ) - June 2013
We think that what we have to offer at la bastide des Lavandieres is great ...but then we would - wouldn't we !
We've seen it being transformed from a derelict building into what we consider to be the best quality  accommodation in
the area . However you don't need to take our word for it . Below you will find the opinions of some of our guests
who have all enjoyed their recent stays at La
                                        Bastide des Lavandieres .
